The Minister of State of the Republic of Melonia (more commonly known as simply the “Minister of State”) is a member of the Executive Branch of the Republic of Melonia. The State Minister is responsible for handling foreign relations, managing the Migration Office, and managing the operation of the military.

The President at the time, Michael Webb, decided that there was a need for a Cabinet member whose job it was to handle foreign affairs and oversee the creation and growth of the new-at-the-time Melonian Legion forces. For this task, he appointed former Prime Minister JosephineGrey. They were unanimously confirmed by Parliament on August 9, 2022, officially forming the position.

Minister JosephineGrey accelerated the development of the Melonian Legion starting on October 14, 2022 in order to prepare for what was believed to be a Cieurnish invasion of Melonia. The Melonian Legion was ordered by Josephine to attack Najtraunas on October 16, 2022. After a 57-minute long conflict, President Michael Webb, Prime Minister tz_scion, and Cieurnish Minister of Foreign Relations Bannerman agreed to a ceasefire when Bannerman explained that Cieurnia never intended to invade Melonia, and instead had plans to invade another Minecraft nation instead, and that Josephine had pulled the Melonian government along to fight against Cieurnia, as Cieurnia had recently purged Josephine from the empire due to perceived immaturity.

Webb immediately ordered that Josephine be removed from Melonian government, and ordered the Melonian Legion to return back to Melonia City. Shortly after, Josephine left Melonia, citing that they were no longer having fun and that being in Melonia had become stressful for them.

Josephine's replacement, tz_scion, would prove instrumental in helping Melonia regain its allyship with the Cieurnish Empire after the fallout of the One-Hour War, along with the leadership of President Webb, who would eventually take the Minister of State position.

tz_scion, and the Ministry of State as a whole, worked to revitalize Melonia's image to the Cieurnish people, and it has largely paid off. Cieurnia and Melonia are allies once more, and are now in the process of setting up a trilateral summit between the Republic of Melonia, the Cieurnish Empire, and the Republic of Velsor, a new group that was formed by former Minister JosephineGrey.

The Minister of State is responsible for creating and maintaining foreign relations between other online nations, such as the Cieurnish Empire and the Republic of Velsor. They will help with the creation of and signing official treaties, and generally seek to improve relations.

As Chief Immigration Officer, this minister is responsible for running the Migration Office, an office created by Melonian law on May 25, 2023 to standardize how new citizens will be processed. The Minister of State is responsible for hiring and managing immigration officers, and has the final say (other than the President) on who will be allowed and not allowed to pursue a Melonian citizenship.

The Minister of State also serves as a military minister, carrying out a secretarial role for the Melonian military, which is currently only comprised of the Melonian Legion. They ensure that the military is being properly operated.

It is currently Melonian tradition for the Minister of State to also be appointed as the Sfeartfylin, which is the commander of the Melonian Legion, just below the President. Melonian law does not require these positions to be one and the same, however, and this precedent may be broken in the future. Currently, though, the Minister of State technically also has commanding powers over the Melonian Legion due to this precedent.
