The Minister of Tax Collection of the Republic of Melonia (more commonly known as simply the “Minister of Tax Collection”) was a member of the Executive Branch of the Republic of Melonia. The Tax Collection Minister was responsible for making sure that the Melonian government properly collected due taxes.
President Michael Webb appointed Bannerman as Secretary of Tax Collection on July 9, 2022. Then-Mayor Webb believed that the Melonian government needed a dedicated person to make sure that citizens paid their fair share in taxes to help fund the Melonian government, as it was under large financial trouble at this point. He was confirmed unanimously by the Senate (today: Parliament).
When the new Republic of Melonia government came into effect on August 15, 2022, Bannerman was also elected as Member of Parliament for a former district called Expansia. Bannerman expressed his intent to fully commit to Parliament, so President Michael Webb decided to abolish this position in favor of delegating this responsibility to the newly formed Minister of Finance position.
The Minister of Tax Collection was responsible for properly collecting and logging tax payments.
Bannerman is the only person to hold this position before abolition.
